Lawrence Cheung is a Controller at Malaspina Consultants Inc., where he provides CFO and controllership services to help clients meet their financial reporting requirements. His responsibilities include liaising with senior management and external auditors, performing technical accounting analyses, and preparing period-end reporting packages, financial statements, and MD&As. Lawrence also oversees the accounting functions of his clients. His client portfolio spans multiple jurisdictions and various industries, with a focus on mining and technology.
Before joining Malaspina in 2021, Lawrence was a Senior Associate at PwC. There, he provided assurance services to both private and publicly traded clients in the US and Canada, reporting under IFRS, ASPE, and US GAAP. He specialized in the mining sector and worked with clients across a broad range of industries. Lawrence has experience evaluating and recommending improvements for key business processes and internal controls to ensure compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
Lawrence holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the Sauder School of Business at UBC and has received his CPA designation from the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia.
In his spare time, Lawrence enjoys cooking, travelling, and watching hockey.
